I try to split the cost for international orders that are over $50 if I can. I am a 31 year old wife and mother who has been secretly making things all my life!
I remember sitting on the "davenport" with my old fashioned Polish grandma Lillian Bengtson (no middle name...my great grandmother didn't believe in them)and sewing Barbie skirts out of cut off shirt sleeves. Grandma would crochet, sew and embroider as she watched the Young & The Restless. I would miss 9 months of the soap opera while I was in school and come back the next summer to find that they had all the same dramas. Grandma would let me know what I had missed, that some of the couples had been married to others and some were in comas and of course all the affairs in fact they weren't the same dramas at all.
In high school, I would design my own high fashion clothing. LOL Mostly wrap skirts but there was the jean Madonna bra!
Then when I was pregnant with Eva (9) my mother bought me a sewing machine. I had to take it back because the needle kept breaking and was shown how to put the bobbin in, that fixed the needle issue. I spent my labor sewing a purse while Jason watched football. I still have the purse.
I now have a shop and get to pass on what I know about knitting and sewing but mainly I hang out with really great women and learn a lot about everything. I hope if your in the area you can stop in and feel welcome and if your not, then you can imagine this great little shop where we don't have customers only friends. -- Anna
